Abstrak

HIV sufferers often experience a weakened immune system, which often leads to co-infections, one of which is hepatitis C (HCV). HCV can be detected by the presence of marker genes, namely the E1-E2 genes. The aim of this study was to detect the presence of the E1-E2 gene as a marker for Hepatitis Type C co-infection in HIV sufferers. This type of research is qualitative research using laboratory observations with a cross sectional study design, with a purposive sampling technique using the nested PCR method. No DNA band was found at 538 bp after electrophoresis. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that HCV coinfection did not occur in HIV patient samples.
